This is my next attempt at a smaller bust, from Fer range. No assembly, just drilling and pegging to the base. The guy certainly had a gaunt look in real life. The complication in painting is the striping on the body robe,if I stick to the boxart. Also many folds to show on the head dress fabric.....
Face completed.......

Humbrol Metallic Paints

I've been a long term user of Humbrol paints (more years than I care to remember). Does anyone know if they've changed the "recipe" since they were taken over by Hornby? I recently stocked up on some of their metallic paints (in the original enamel and some of the newer acrylics) and the coverage is really poor - much more so than with older versions that I have. So has something changed and is there a trick to using them in their new state? Thanks.

Very new knowledges about the ancient Romans

New study: Ancient Romans were incredibly
rich and technically totally awkward

Rome, Pompei (dpo) - A research team from the Sapienza University of Rome has gained new insights into the living conditions of the ancient Romans. For over four years archaeologists analyzed finds from the ruins of the 79 AD. from a volcanic eruption buried city Pompeii to gain a deeper insight into life almost 2000 years ago.

"What we found out is amazing," said Professor Gianluigi Giacomo (56): "The Romans were considerably richer than we are today." This can be concluded from the finds clearly. "Even the simplest of people, such as day laborers or craftsmen, could afford antique furniture, tools and coins, which at auction today can reach top prices in the millions," says the professor.

However, you can not compare tools from that time with modern equipment:

"The tool of antiquity is scrap", so the devastating judgment of Giacomo. "The stuff is completely rusted, splinters easily and often even breaks down into dust when used intensively."

This should also solve the mystery why the ancient Romans, despite their fabulous wealth, almost exclusively built ruins.

Charon the Boatman

Just finished up Charon, one in a series from Aradia Miniatures from the Dante's Inferno Kickstarter.

As I was putting this together, I realized that I mad a major goof. The demon(#1) who has his arm thrust forward, was glued in place a little too forward. This made the second demon also too far forward, making the lost soul too far forward.
I noticed this when the other side of Demon #1 did not meet up with the water. How could I have missed that?!? The only thing to do besides trying to pull him off and chance breaking him, was to get out the Aves, and create a wave extension. This is what I did. I think I did a decent job of masking the goof.
Thanks for looking.
