Dacian chieftain

So I’m now calling this guy done, though at some stage it may be revisited.
Piece is from Fer miniatures in 1/12 scale, though I’m saying it’s more 1/10. It’s a big chunk a resin.
All was painted using AK GEN 3 acrylics, which I’m really warming to now.
Hope ya like him. IMG_2423.jpegIMG_2424.jpegIMG_2425.jpegIMG_2426.jpegIMG_2428.jpegIMG_2429.jpeg

Musician of the Regt. Royal Deux-Ponts, 1781

This a first posting, by me, of a WIP.

I have been working with Historex for 40 years.

My wife and I were members of the US based reenactment group, Regt. Royal Deux-Ponts, the original of which was instrumental in bringing about the British surrender at Yorktown.
I portrayed a Grenadier and my wife a musician (fifre and hunting horn in the Chasseur Co.).
From research, we know that there was one French Horn player in the Regimental Band and we even know his name.

This vignette is...

I have been tinkering with this for about a month now, I am still not comfortable doing mounted figures, the figure is fine the horse is another story.

So rather than keeping the builds to myself I will blog this build, though it will be a longer, slower project than most that can run alongside whatever else I am doing.

The vignette will be three Cuirassiers, a General, a Trooper and a Trumpeter all in the charge. The horses are all balanced on one leg so I have had to...

Hi all - finished up this one while I recuperate from knee surgery - YOUNG miniatures 1/10 US Marine c. 1944. First time I’ve ever painted a second version of the same bust (first one was done 3 years ago), this one for a friend with a deep interest in the USMC. Painted in the usual oils and acrylics:

I guess this now counts as "work in progress."
The intention is to put four 1/35 figs on a base with rocky terrain to represent a high altitude landscape.
It's going to take a long time, and pose some interesting challenges.
So far, the base is all that's underway: plywood, polyfiller, laminate, coffee shop stirrers for trench revetments, and Milliput sandbags - there's gonna be a lot of those

Hello Planeteers,

New project on my bench,

I have got these beautiful minis about 5 or 6 years ago, the are from Drabant Miniatures ( Russia) and unfortunately they are discontinued, currently the manufacturer just produce 28mm medievals .

This is my first ever project of the War of the Spanish succession, since i have very few figures i am planning to have abou 8 troops marching .

I came across this illustration and like it very much, i was not able to identify the regiment but a...

Casimir the Great - new 100mm figure(s) from Dolman Miniature

Here comes the king – a striking new image of Casimir the Great steps into the spotlight. Unveiled on the eve of the 715th anniversary of his birth, this miniature bridges centuries and borders, brought to life through international collaboration.

The figure appears in two versions. The first one envisions Casimir in crown and an ornate cloak, the second (exclusive) in helmet and without a cloak. The second one may easily serve as a representation of any noble knight from era of the second...

Polish Winged Hussar in 54mm C17

This is my presentation of Andrea Miniatures' Polish Winged Hussar in 54mm scale. Painted entirely in Vallejo acrylics but metal parts are partly NMM, partly Vallejo Liquid Gold and partly AK True Metal paste. The Wasa dynasty flag is a replica of a paper one supplied with the model which, in my opinion, was not up to scratch. It is made out of a thin aluminium sheet (cannibalised from a tube of tomato paste) and is entirely freehand. Apologies if my pics are not up to scratch but I'm...

Next project on the table; something with a lot of trash in the sewer. The Alpine figure is just for size reference. Another figure will be put in place. The gate is completed (besides the final weathering)
Next step : painting the walls (each stone will be painted individually; 550 in total)

Hello Folks
Many thanks to Nello Rivieccio for allowing Mitches Military Models to produce his fantastic Marina Project figures in various scales from 54m to 200mm. This will give modellers who did not order these figures via Nello's Kickstarter to obtain them along with larger scale vesions of the kits.
Mitches will be releasing these figures/busts over the coming months and first on the list is a Marine of the Guard drummer. Tommi Worton is putting the final touches to the 3D prints which...
