Carolus Imperator Augustus (742-814)
Today I finished this excellent 75 mm figure from Art Girona. It depicts Carolus Imperator Augustus (Charlemagne/ Karel de Grote) who lived from 742-814.
As Usual everething is painted with oils. It was a birthday present from my sons.
Make some time to comment. I'm always learning.

Lady Valerious
Just finished this Kickstarter vampire bust from Scale 75. Flesh is oils. The rest is mostly Scale Color acrylics. The satin finish on the, I guess you would call it the bodice, and on the arm is the natural finish of the Games and Fantasy line from them. The regular line has the deadest, flat finish I’ve seen. Hope you like.

Dandelions and small plants
Afternoon folks
Looking to add a few dandelion plants to some groundwork (54mm) I know that some are available in Australia, but the postage is rather more than I'd like to pay so does anyone have a UK source or way of making them realistically?
Cheers
Paul

The Battle of Britain
Good day to all.
Finished work on the scene of the battle of the Roman option and the Celtic warrior.
Both warriors from DG miniature, 75 mm. As I understood they were issued with the idea of a joint composition, so I did not select characters for a long time, both are announced for the 1st century.
Nature was born by itself in the head + a little photo of the local forests.
Actually painting tempera and acrylic, the basis of the constituent nature of acrylic paste from AK Diorama, a river of epoxy resin.
Enjoy watching)

Very new knowledges about the ancient Romans
New study: Ancient Romans were incredibly
rich and technically totally awkward
Rome, Pompei (dpo) - A research team from the Sapienza University of Rome has gained new insights into the living conditions of the ancient Romans. For over four years archaeologists analyzed finds from the ruins of the 79 AD. from a volcanic eruption buried city Pompeii to gain a deeper insight into life almost 2000 years ago.
"What we found out is amazing," said Professor Gianluigi Giacomo (56): "The Romans were considerably richer than we are today." This can be concluded from the finds clearly. "Even the simplest of people, such as day laborers or craftsmen, could afford antique furniture, tools and coins, which at auction today can reach top prices in the millions," says the professor.
However, you can not compare tools from that time with modern equipment:
"The tool of antiquity is scrap", so the devastating judgment of Giacomo. "The stuff is completely rusted, splinters easily and often even breaks down into dust when used intensively."

This should also solve the mystery why the ancient Romans, despite their fabulous wealth, almost exclusively built ruins.

groundwork seminar
hello Friends,
yesterday i was giving a 5 hours seminar on groundworks conception and building.
they were 3 students to attend it, the schedule was tight with 3 bases to do during the day :
lava, desert and finally a wilderness ground ... they worked really beyond my hopes as they were all beginners.
they learned how to work from everyday products without paying way too much for so-called "specialized" products, instead i teached them to use grounded coffee, real sand, cat litter etc.
here are their results at theend of the day:
